Martial Arts

Martial arts is the practice of consciousness and efficiency under stress. Find your structure, get in shape, start with the basics, and move forward from there.

Conditioning/Efficiency

Efficiency is efficient and inefficiency is inefficient. So let’s dive into that. This is the principle behind a lot of this practice. Learn to maintain and be aware of your efficiency.

Workshops/Space Rental

This is a very deep well of information. There are intensives every Saturday from 1-4pm. Contact Matt for personalized and off-site workhsops.

Do You Have Any Questions?

What we do here is way more familiar than you may assume. Often people are intrigued when I mention that Yoga was a Martial Art or that Persians have a system of Yoga. So…

What "Style" do you teach?

Like most schools we are a mix of things. I grew up studying Judo, TKD, Karate, Kickboxing, and Persian Martial arts and Yoga. Now, I teach human efficiency under stress. Footwork, positioning, stances, punches, kicks, falling, and awareness.  This system was designed to have you performing and integrating what you know under stress. “If you can’t walk with it, it doesn’t exist.” 

Are beginners welcome?

Yes, beginners are encouraged. Some of the most devoted people here started from zero experience. It’s easy to empty your cup when you don’t even have a cup yet. 

Is this a new system?

Over the past few years I’ve been seeing similar principles showing up in wellness, fitness, and movement. This is the cycle of “cutting edge” research realzing that some of the best training is centuries old. No… This is very old, and yes… we have adapted things for our culture now. No one is coming up with anything new, but there’s always room to adapt and grow.

Do you rent space to other trainers, teachers, etc...?

Yes I do. Email me through the contact page. I have 3 rooms here. One is more yoga heavy, one for martial arts, and a massage room. I am heavily equipped here, pads, bolsters, mats, crash pad, punching bags, percussor, stall bars, battle ropes, kettlebells, swinging clubs. One room is 50/hr… 

Do you do off-site workshops and trainings?

Yes… I do a lot of them. I offer up a couple modules that are very unique to this place. I’ve taught them all over.

  • Functional Flow (movement and conditioning)
  • Structure and awareness of yoga (How to practice safely and get deeper) Find your inner Guru.
What do I need to bring to start?

Bring yourself and something you can move and sweat in. Come here ready to work and be pushed to be aware. This is a practice where ambition will hurt. So the key is awareness, actualization, and practice. This way, we can train well into our later years. You won’t need a yoga mat, or fancy pants. If you have props, bring them and perhaps we’ll use them. It’s always good to be prepared. But mainly, JUST SHOW UP!!!
