This is one of the most requested and most unique to me and The Open Matt. (Other than Yama Sequence.)  I am simplifying my offerings into the basic lenses that create the weird misconception that I am somewhat of an “encyclopedia” of movement and martial arts… I’m not. I have a way to break down my mind and body systematically to build a basic practice out of anything.  So… I’m starting to TRAIN TRAINERS out of here. I’ve trained trainers for over 20 years, but I go elsewhere to do it. Hey!!! Let’s keep it local. This stuff is simple and I have never shared it with any organization and it not be adopted into their gym’s/dojo’s/school’s culture. FUN!!! 

The 5 Elements of Practice. 

this one is short and sweet. It will break down the basic ways you can practice anything and make it your own. 

We know most of what we need to know, we just need to access other lenses and ways to break it down. STOP LEARNING MORE!!! DIVE DEEPER INTO WHAT YOU ALREADY KNOW!!!

it’s about understanding deeper vs. the clutter of more and more 

I don’t want to teach you anything, I don’t want you to learn a new “move”. Refocusing our minds and bodies into five different elements to make whatever we want out of whatever we want is the goal. Yep… Sounds way more abstract than it really is. 

DAY 1

We will focus on: 

5 elements or, attitudes

    • Earth- still/slow
    • Water-flowing, sinking
    • Metal- precision, refinement
    • Wood-bending, reaching, extending
    • Fire- explode, speed, create, 

 

3 positions  

    • Standing
    • Facing down 
    • Facing up

After that… we can create an entire holistic practice.

Learn how to:

  • Safely adapt each position to YOUR skill level.
  • Move with breathing and structure
  • Adapt this process to mental and physical tasks as well
  • Troubleshoot positions and listen to your own structure
  • Create energy and power over fatigue
